The two main differences between youth and normal compound bows are mentioned below.

The A2A length is 33 5/8" which seems about right for most others bows that have been announced and released for 2011. Most of them seem to be around 33-34 so this isnt an exception. This will help to make sure the bow is stable and even more so when trying to hit targets at a longer range.

The speed however does mean that the bow compromises on brace height - at just 5 1/2" this bow is surely only for those that can fire shots accurately without the need of the bow to compensate for them. At this height, its not an overly forgiving bow, but this is where the extra speed has been gained. With that said, while this bow might not give beginners their best experience, anyone with a little bit of know how will love the fact that when you hit the target dead on, it has been achieved by you, and you only. It's a great feeling and along with the power this can chuck out, you will be left craving more or the same.

Even at this speed the PSE omen pro shoots with very little shock which is helped by the Planar Flex riser and Centerlock pockets. It is a little heavier than some bows that are available and this is quite noticeable, however, its not heavy or awkward so this isnt really a negative spin on things.

OVerall, this bow is superb - good, fast shots and little noise and vibration is what most people are after; it is probably more suited to those that can hit the target with consitency as the forgiveness of this bow is very little. Of course, you can expect that most manufacturers will be releasing new versions of ageing compound bows as well as releasing brand new models with the latest patented technology. The answer is: DONT.

The main reason for not doing this is because the bow holds so much energy that if you try to tamper with it, you are almost certainly going to end up injuring yourself or someone else for that matter. The number one rule for archery is safety first, and this applies to shooting as well as maintenance.

The bow press is designed to do a specific job, so let it do that. If you really need it fitted then take it to an archery store who will do it for you, and in most cases this will be quite cheap - sometimes as little as $10.

Another reason not to do this yourself is that you cant calibrate if properly. If you own a compound bow then you are serious about your archery or hunting. Either way, trying to find some way for a peep sight to be installed on a compound bow string without a bow press is asking for trouble. If it is not attached properly you may find when the string tenses the peep leans either side - just 1mm can make a huge difference on wether you hit the target or not.

If you are serious about gettig the most out of your compound bow, a small investment will allow a professional to install the peep sight for you. If you dont have the money, then be sure to save up and consider it a worthy investment. After all, you may not be able to shoot if you end up losing an eye!

However with the compound bow, the limbs do not stretch backwards. The limbs are rigid and not flexible. However the string is drawn back using a system of pulleys. As you pull the compound bow string back, the tension is high. But once you pull back a certain amount of the string, the tension reduces drastically. This allows the archer to aim easier with the tension not affecting his hand. He can hold the hand steady and thus the bow steady too.

Sometimes your arrows might not be accurate as you want them to be and shots might be veer off target repeatedly. You might be doing everything right, but they still might just not be accurate enough. Sometimes arrows go off target too. The first thing to check is your stance and other basics. Are you doing everything you should be? Some times you might be doing everything right and the arrows might still be veering off. The answer would be to tune your bow. Tuning the bow helps to adjust the bow perfectly and shoot the arrow directly at the target.

In this article, we shed some light on the right procedure to tune the compound bow. Place the arrow in such a way that resting point of the arrow is at level with the bottom of the bolt hole to which the rest is attached to. The resting point might be top of the prongs, whisker biscuit or any such device. Use the bow square and keep the nocking point one-eighth to one-fourth above the level. The arrow is perfectly placed horizontally. Align the arrow vertically using any method. Your eyes serve the purpose well enough. Set the arrow straight vertically.
Next, the peep sight needs to be installed. Close your eyes and pull the string back in a swift and fluid motion. Open the eye with which you aim. This is where the peep sight ought to be. Next is the paper test. In a frame, place a piece of paper at about ten yards. Put a back stop behind it. Shoot an arrow through this from a distance of around ten yards. Inspect the holes. If there is a right tear or a left tear, adjust the arrow rest in the along the direction of the tear. These adjustments must be done in terms of one-sixteenth. At the right point, when the bow is perfectly tuned, you obtain bullet holes with no tears. There might be tears in the vertical direction too. You will have to adjust the nock point in similar one-sixteenth adjustments. Once bullet holes are obtained, set the sight pins.

Remember, this is your bow and you shoot with it. Go through a lot of trial and error and decide on the best and most comfortable tuning. You should be comfortable with your bow.

The compound bow uses pulleys to facilitate the bow string being pulled back. The compound bow also has a unique fact or characteristic. It is known as Let off. The bowstring when sufficiently pulled back loses some of its tension and the amount of tension needed to keep the string pulled back reduces drastically. This helps the archer aim straighter and easier. This characteristic drastically reduces the holding weight of a bow. The stance and position assumed by the archer remains the same for a compound bow as the other bows.

To shoot a compound bow, first assume an easy and relaxed stance. Choose an open stance for more comfort and efficiency. Next attach the release to the string. If you have a loop, it is even better. Attach the release to the loop.

Once this is done place your hand in the grip. Take care to ensure that the pressure point is at the thick part of your thumb. After release, the pressure should go directly into your bow arm. Try and keep the bow arm as relaxed as possible. The bow should not be gripped by your bow arm fingers. A finger sling or a bow sling will help with keeping your hand relaxed. A relaxed arm will not twitch or shake. There should be no shake or twitch after the release.

Next step is to lift the bow and point it to the target. Do not lift the bow above the target. This is a practice common with recurve bow archers. They do this to gain extra leverage. However with the compound bow, this should be avoided. The idea of pointing it above the target is to get extra leverage in a recurve bow. However this is not possible in a compound bow. Even in the event of a misfire, the arrow must stay in the shooting area. Just lift the bow with your bow arm and let it find a natural and comfortable position. Do no pull it back or rotate it. Try and rest it at a comfortable position. Practise drawing the bow string to acclimatise your muscles with the weight and tension of the bow string. However dry firing is not advised. Practice on a free string.
The next step is to draw the string. Draw the string with your back muscles and not your arm muscles. The draw should a clean and straight motion. The draw length is best decided in consultation with an experienced archer or a coach.

The next important point is the anchor. A low anchor below your jaw bone is preferred. Try and draw the string to your nose. It helps in maintain the arrow in a straight line. The brain automatically focuses on the centre of the target. As you practice, over time you will become quite accurate at shooting a compound bow and may decide you are ready for hunting!
